FreshRank speeds up turning stale posts into traffic drivers. Instead of writing from scratch, it analyzes your existing content, pulls real search data from Google Search Console (GSC), flags what needs updating, and can generate revised drafts with AI. The typical benefits: faster results, higher ranking potential, and Google often rewards refreshed content.
What FreshRank does
- Connects to Google Search Console to fetch real performance data and rank posts by urgency based on traffic and ranking trends.
- Uses AI to scan each article for quality problems, factual drift, and SEO gaps, and produces precise, actionable suggestions (specific lines, facts, or phrases to change).
- Can generate updated draft versions using your settings and presets so you can review and publish quickly.
Install FreshRank
- FreshRank is a WordPress plugin. Download the .zip from https://themeisle.com/plugins/fresh-rank/ and upload it in WordPress via Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin. Activate the plugin.
- After activation, a FreshRank AI menu appears in the dashboard sidebar. Open Settings to configure integrations.
Connect Google Search Console
- In Settings → Google Search Console, paste your OAuth Client ID and Client Secret from Google Cloud so FreshRank can access your GSC data.
- Quick setup: sign in at https://console.cloud.google.com with the Google account that manages your GSC property, create a project, enable the Google Search Console API (APIs & Services → Library), and set up OAuth consent (APIs & Services → OAuth consent screen; choose External for Audience if appropriate).
- Create OAuth credentials (APIs & Services → Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth client ID → Web application), add the Authorized redirect URIs shown in FreshRank, then copy the Client ID and Client Secret into FreshRank settings.
- Note: FreshRank works without GSC access, but you will not get GSC-based article prioritization. Enable “GSC-based article prioritization” in settings to let it sort posts by urgency.
Set up OpenAI API keys and models
- In Settings enter your OpenAI API key (get one at https://platform.openai.com/api-keys).
- Choose which AI models FreshRank should use. Default presets are a safe starting point; test different models to see which produce the tone and accuracy you prefer.
Analyze content with FreshRank
- Open the FreshRank dashboard to see your published posts. With GSC connected, sort by priority to surface articles that need attention first.
- Click Analyze Current Page or the Analyze button beside individual posts to trigger a review.
- After analysis, click the analysis score to open the report. FreshRank highlights quality issues, factual updates, SEO opportunities, and provides exact suggestions. It also searches the web for recent data relevant to the article so you know what facts need refreshing.
- You can use the suggestions to edit manually, or continue to automated rewriting.
Generate updated drafts
- For each analyzed article, select Create Updated Draft (or similarly labeled action). Before generating, visit FreshRank → Content Settings to specify which categories the rewrite should address (for example factual updates, high-severity issues, SEO improvements, tone, and style).
- A recommended start: focus on high-severity and factual updates first (the “red” items).
- Draft generation usually takes a minute or two. FreshRank compiles the analysis, any custom instructions, and your content settings, sends them to the AI model, and returns a new draft.
- Click View Draft Details to inspect what changed and which issues were resolved. You can preview the full new draft, compare edits, or open WordPress revisions to see line-by-line changes.
- After review, approve the draft to replace the existing post, or edit further before publishing.
Custom Instructions (Pro)
- Enable Custom Instructions in settings to provide extra context for the AI: brand voice, evergreen policies, topic-specific rules, or phrasing preferences. This helps the AI produce drafts that match your editorial standards.
Track progress and impact
- FreshRank includes an Analytics area (FreshRank AI → Analytics) that interprets GSC data to estimate potential gains from updates and to track improvements after you publish revisions.
- Analytics focus on the traffic impact of content work rather than general site metrics, making it easier to see which updates move the needle and where to focus next.
Six-step FreshRank workflow (summary)
- Install the plugin and connect GSC plus your OpenAI key.
- Let FreshRank prioritize posts using GSC data.
- Analyze prioritized posts to reveal issues and opportunities.
- Configure content settings and any custom instructions.
- Generate AI-updated drafts, review, then approve and publish.
- Monitor results in FreshRank Analytics and iterate.
