CodedEthique

About Us

CodedEthique covers WordPress and the open web: news, interviews and practical guides for the people who build and run websites.

CodedEthique is an independent publication about WordPress and the wider open web. We write for the people who build, maintain and depend on websites: developers, designers, agency owners, freelancers, site owners and the volunteers who keep the WordPress project moving.

What we cover

Our reporting follows the WordPress ecosystem from several directions at once:

  • Development — core releases, the block editor, themes, performance work and the tools that shape how sites are built.
  • Plugins and products — launches, updates and honest comparisons, with attention to what is genuinely free and what is not.
  • Hosting, performance and security — what keeps sites fast and safe, and what to do when something goes wrong.
  • AI — how artificial intelligence is changing the way sites are made, translated, maintained and sold, including the risks.
  • Business and careers — agencies, freelancing, eCommerce and the realities of earning a living on the web.
  • Community — WordCamps, meetups, education programmes and the people who contribute their time to open source.

Why “CodedEthique”

Our name joins two ideas we care about: good code and good conduct. The open web works because people share their work, document what they learn and treat users with respect. We try to bring the same values to our journalism. That means being clear about our sources, separating fact from opinion, disclosing commercial relationships, and correcting mistakes openly.

How we work

Much of our coverage draws on long-form conversations with practitioners from across the WordPress community: core contributors, plugin authors, hosting engineers, educators and agency leaders. We summarise those conversations carefully and attribute views to the people who hold them. Product coverage is based on public documentation, release notes and hands-on testing where possible. Our standards are set out in full in our Editorial Policy.
