Why update instead of writing new? Search engines favor fresher content, so revising existing posts usually beats starting from scratch: it’s faster, can rank sooner, and is often rewarded by Google. FreshRank automates and accelerates that update work by combining real performance data, content analysis, fact checking, SEO opportunity discovery, and AI-assisted draft generation.
What FreshRank does
- Pulls real performance data from Google Search Console (GSC) and ranks articles by urgency so you focus on pieces with the most upside.
- Uses AI to analyze articles and point to exact paragraphs, wordings, data points, and factual problems that need updating.
- Searches the web for fresh facts and context relevant to each article.
- Generates updated drafts according to your chosen focus and custom instructions, making revision fast.
Install FreshRank (WordPress plugin)
- Download the FreshRank plugin .zip.
- In WordPress: Dashboard → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Choose the .zip and Activate.
- A FreshRank AI section will appear in the admin sidebar. Open Settings to configure integrations (GSC and OpenAI).
Set up Google Search Console integration (optional but recommended)
Integrating GSC lets FreshRank prioritize articles based on real traffic and ranking trends. You’ll need an OAuth Client ID and Secret from Google Cloud:
- Go to https://console.cloud.google.com and sign in with the Google account tied to your GSC property.
- Create a new project (or choose an existing one).
- APIs & Services → Library → enable “Google Search Console API.”
- APIs & Services → OAuth consent screen → Start setup: set an App name (e.g., “FreshRank Connect”), choose Audience = External, add a contact email, then Create.
- APIs & Services → Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth client ID → select Web application. Add the Authorized redirect URI exactly as shown in FreshRank settings.
- Create the credentials, then copy the OAuth Client ID and Client Secret into FreshRank Settings → Google Search Console.
- In FreshRank settings, enable “GSC-based article prioritization” to let FreshRank sort articles by traffic risk and opportunity.
Notes: FreshRank can run without GSC, but you’ll lose data-driven prioritization and traffic signals.
Set up OpenAI
- Get an API key from https://platform.openai.com/api-keys.
- Paste the key into FreshRank Settings → OpenAI.
- Choose or test different AI models; FreshRank includes sensible presets but model choice can affect tone, length, and accuracy. Try a couple to see what best fits your niche.
Analyze content with FreshRank
- Open the FreshRank dashboard to see all published posts. If GSC is connected, sort by priority to work from highest-impact items downward.
- For any post, click Analyze. FreshRank combines GSC trends, on-page analysis, and web research to surface issues like traffic drops, lost keywords, outdated facts, and content gaps.
- Click the analysis score or the priority badge to read the rationale and see the specific paragraphs or claims that triggered suggestions.
- You can use FreshRank’s recommendations to update manually if you prefer.
Generate updated drafts and rewrite workflow
- After analysis, click Create Updated Draft next to an article.
- Before generating, fine-tune rewrite settings: select which issue categories to focus on (for example, factual updates, SEO optimization, readability). Start by prioritizing factual fixes and high-severity issues.
- FreshRank sends context, web-sourced facts, and your selected settings to the AI and returns a draft in a minute or two.
- View Draft Details to see a summary of what was changed and why. Use View Changes to inspect precise edits via WordPress revisions.
- Edit the draft manually if desired. When you’re happy, approve the draft to replace or update the live post.
Pro features: Add Custom Instructions (company style, voice, brand rules, and content policies) so generated drafts better match your editorial standards.
Track progress and measure ROI
- FreshRank includes an Analytics module that translates raw traffic numbers into estimated gains you might achieve by updating a specific article.
- It tracks performance changes after updates so you can measure lift and decide where to invest time next.
- Use Analytics to quantify ROI of your revision work and to discover more posts worth refreshing.
Quick FreshRank workflow (summary)
- Install FreshRank and connect GSC and OpenAI.
- Use GSC data to prioritize articles with lost traffic or high potential.
- Analyze articles to get issue lists and web-sourced suggestions.
- Configure rewrite settings and any Custom Instructions.
- Generate drafts, review changes, edit if needed, and approve updates.
- Monitor results in FreshRank Analytics and repeat on the next prioritized article.
