Old posts that once drove traffic often slip in rankings and gather dust. Updating existing content usually outperforms publishing new posts: it’s faster, can rank sooner, and Google favors fresh, accurate pages. FreshRank automates and accelerates that update process by combining Search Console data with AI-powered content analysis and draft generation.
What FreshRank does
– Pulls real traffic and ranking data from Google Search Console (GSC) to prioritize which posts need work. Prioritization highlights pages with traffic drops, lost rankings, or high upside.
– Uses AI to analyze each article for factual errors, outdated statistics, phrasing problems, and SEO gaps, then produces clear, actionable recommendations.
– Generates updated draft content based on those recommendations and your settings, letting you review and approve changes before publishing.
Install FreshRank
– Download the plugin .zip and install via WordPress: Dashboard → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Activate the plugin.
– A FreshRank AI menu will appear in the admin sidebar. Open Settings to configure integrations.
Set up Google Search Console integration
– In FreshRank Settings → Google Search Console, enter the OAuth Client ID and Client Secret from a Google Cloud project.
– Quick setup: go to console.cloud.google.com → create a project → APIs & Services → Library → enable “Google Search Console API.” Next, configure OAuth consent (set an app name, choose External) and create OAuth credentials: APIs & Services → Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth client ID → Web application. Add the Authorized redirect URI shown in FreshRank settings, then copy the Client ID and Client Secret into FreshRank.
– Integration is optional but recommended. Without GSC, FreshRank can still analyze content but will not prioritize articles based on real performance.
Set up OpenAI
– In FreshRank Settings → OpenAI, paste your OpenAI API key from platform.openai.com.
– FreshRank provides sensible default models; test different models to see which produces the best tone and accuracy for your niche.
Analyze your content with FreshRank
– Open the FreshRank dashboard to view all published posts. With GSC connected, sort by priority to see the posts with the most urgent need.
– Use Analyze Current Page or the Analyze action next to any article. FreshRank inspects quality, flags factual or dated content, spots SEO gaps, and searches the web for current information.
– Each article receives a priority score with an explanation (e.g., traffic decline, lost keywords, potential uplift). Work top-down from the prioritized list.
Review analysis
– Click an article’s analysis score to see detailed findings and suggested fixes. You can apply those changes manually or use FreshRank’s drafting tools to automate updates.
Generate updated drafts
– After analysis, click Create Updated Draft. In Settings you can choose which issue categories the AI should address (factual updates, severe SEO problems, phrasing, etc.).
– Draft generation sends the analysis and selected options to OpenAI; this typically takes a minute or two.
– When the draft is ready, open View Draft Details to see a summary of changes and which issues were addressed. Options include previewing the new draft, viewing the specific changes (WordPress revisions are highlighted), or editing manually.
– If you approve the draft, publish it to replace the existing post.
Custom Instructions
– Enable Custom Instructions in Settings to pass brand context, audience details, tone guidelines, or other constraints so AI-generated drafts match your voice and requirements.
Track progress and measure impact
– FreshRank includes an Analytics view (FreshRank AI → Analytics) that translates traffic changes into potential gains and highlights performance since an update.
– This differs from Google Analytics by focusing on potential uplift and update-driven impact, making it easier to prioritize ongoing work.
Recommended workflow (six steps)
1. Install FreshRank and connect GSC and OpenAI.
2. Let FreshRank prioritize posts using GSC data.
3. Analyze the top-priority articles.
4. Review suggestions and select which issue types to fix.
5. Generate updated drafts, review and edit as needed, then approve and publish.
6. Monitor FreshRank Analytics to measure improvements and iterate.
Practical tips
– Start with red/high-severity items: factual inaccuracies and critical SEO problems provide the biggest gains.
– Try multiple AI models and content settings to find the best fit for your site.
– Use Custom Instructions to preserve brand voice and editorial rules.
– Review AI-generated changes carefully—use the highlighted revisions view to verify facts and tone before publishing.
