Why refresh posts instead of writing new ones
Updating existing articles often delivers faster SEO gains than creating new posts: edits publish sooner, can climb rankings quickly, and Google rewards freshness. Manually updating content is effective but slow—research, Search Console checks, fact-checking, SEO tweaks, rewrites and quality checks add up. FreshRank automates that workflow so you can scale updates with consistent quality.
What FreshRank does
– Pulls real traffic and ranking data from Google Search Console to prioritize posts that will benefit most from updates.
– Runs AI-powered content analysis to surface actionable fixes: factual updates, phrasing, missing data, internal linking and SEO opportunities.
– Generates updated draft versions based on the analysis and your preferences, for previewing, editing, and approval.
Install and initial setup
1. Install the plugin: upload the FreshRank .zip in WordPress Dashboard → Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin, then activate.
2. Open FreshRank AI from the sidebar and go to Settings to configure integrations and preferences.
Google Search Console integration (recommended)
– In Settings → Google Search Console, add an OAuth Client ID and Client Secret from Google Cloud so FreshRank can fetch your site’s GSC data. This unlocks prioritization by traffic and ranking trends.
– Quick setup:
1. Sign in to console.cloud.google.com with the Google account tied to GSC.
2. Create a project and enable the Google Search Console API.
3. Configure the OAuth consent screen (External), provide an app name and contact email.
4. Create credentials → OAuth client ID → Web application. Copy the Authorized redirect URI from FreshRank into the Google setup.
5. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret into FreshRank Settings.
– Note: FreshRank still works without GSC, but you will lose traffic-priority insights.
OpenAI (or other model) integration
– Add your OpenAI API key in Settings → OpenAI. FreshRank sends the analysis and structured prompts to the selected model to produce rewrites.
– Several models are supported and sensible defaults are provided. Test a couple to see which produces the best tone and accuracy for your niche.
Analyze your content
– Open the FreshRank dashboard to view all published posts. With GSC connected, sort by priority to focus on the highest-impact articles first.
– Click Analyze on a post or choose Analyze Current Page. After analysis, click the score to open FreshRank’s assessment.
– The report includes quality scoring, factual checks, SEO gaps, and suggested updates pulled from the web when applicable.
– If you prefer hands-on edits, use the suggestions to update the post manually.
Generate updated drafts
– From a post’s analysis, click Create Updated Draft.
– Tweak content preferences in Settings to control what the rewrite should address (e.g., factual updates, tone, length, high-severity issues only).
– FreshRank packages the article metadata, analysis, and prompts, sends them to the model, and returns a draft in a minute or two.
– Click View Draft Details to see which issues were addressed and a summary of changes.
Review, compare, and approve
– Use View Changes to see edits highlighted in WordPress’ revision interface so you can compare the new draft to the published version.
– Edit the draft manually if needed. When satisfied, approve it to replace the live post.
– Tip: enable Custom Instructions in Settings to give the model brand voice, style rules, and content constraints for more consistent outputs.
Track outcomes and measure gains
– FreshRank includes an Analytics module that translates traffic numbers into potential gains and shows progress since updates.
– This analytics view focuses on update-driven improvements and opportunity sizing per article and complements Google Analytics.
Recommended simple workflow
1. Connect GSC and OpenAI.
2. Prioritize posts using GSC-based scoring.
3. Analyze top-priority posts.
4. Adjust settings to target critical issues (factual and high-severity gaps).
5. Generate updated drafts and review highlighted changes.
6. Approve updates and monitor performance in FreshRank Analytics.
Options and testing
– Try free or lite versions if available to test features before committing.
– You can run FreshRank’s analysis without the plugin via their public tool when offered, though WordPress integration streamlines publishing.
Final note
FreshRank streamlines the content refresh cycle—prioritization, fact-checking, SEO recommendations, and AI-assisted rewrites—so you can revive older posts quickly and measure the impact. Start by testing a few high-priority articles, adjust settings to match your editorial standards, and iterate until the process fits your workflow.
