Your old blog posts are collecting dust and losing rankings. Updating existing content usually outperforms writing new posts: it’s faster, ranks sooner, and Google rewards it. Manually updating takes hours—checking facts, analyzing Search Console, finding SEO gaps, and rewriting. FreshRank automates that: it analyzes content, pulls real GSC data, fact-checks, finds SEO opportunities, and can rewrite drafts using AI. This guide shows how to use it.
What FreshRank does
FreshRank’s core features:
– Connects to Google Search Console (GSC) to fetch real traffic and ranking data, then prioritizes posts that most need updates.
– Analyzes content with AI and provides concrete suggestions: which sections, facts, phrasings, and SEO elements to improve.
– Generates updated drafts based on those suggestions and your presets.
Install and initial setup
– Install the FreshRank WordPress plugin: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then activate.
– Open the FreshRank AI menu in the dashboard and go to Settings.
GSC integration (recommended)
– In Settings → Google Search Console, paste your OAuth Client ID and Client Secret (create these in Google Cloud).
– Quick steps: console.cloud.google.com → create project → APIs & Services → Library → enable “Google Search Console API” → OAuth consent screen (External) → Credentials → Create OAuth client ID (Web application). Add the Authorized redirect URI shown in FreshRank and create. Copy Client ID & Secret into FreshRank.
– Enable “GSC-based article prioritization” in FreshRank to use GSC insights for prioritizing posts.
– You can use FreshRank without GSC, but you’ll lose prioritization based on real traffic data.
OpenAI integration and model selection
– Enter your OpenAI API key (from platform.openai.com) in FreshRank.
– FreshRank supports multiple models; it provides sensible defaults. Test different models to see which produces the best drafts for your content and niche.
Analyze content with FreshRank
– Go to the FreshRank dashboard to see published articles and analyze them individually or in bulk.
– If GSC is connected, sort by priority (FreshRank scores posts by potential gains and urgency based on traffic trends/rankings).
– Click Analyze Current Page or Analyze next to any article to run an in-depth assessment.
– FreshRank gives an analysis score and actionable insights: factual updates, SEO gaps, readability issues, content depth, and more. It also searches the web for up-to-date information relevant to the article.
– Use suggestions to manually update content if you prefer.
Rewrite content with FreshRank
– After analysis, use the Create Updated Draft button to generate a new draft.
– Before generating, configure content settings in FreshRank to control which problem categories the rewrite should address (e.g., factual updates, high-severity issues).
– Draft generation sends the article, insights, and prompts to OpenAI and returns a revised version in a minute or two.
– Click View Draft Details to see what was changed and a summary of issues addressed.
– Use the “View changes” feature to inspect a revisions comparison in WordPress—every change is highlighted.
– Edit the draft manually if needed, then approve to replace the current post.
– Pro tip: enable Custom Instructions in settings to provide context about your brand, tone, or editorial rules to guide AI rewrites.
Track progress over time
– FreshRank includes an Analytics module (FreshRank AI → Analytics).
– It translates raw stats into actionable potential gains: how much traffic you could recover or grow by updating a specific article.
– It also tracks performance improvements after updates so you can measure impact beyond basic Google Analytics numbers.
Six-step FreshRank workflow (high level)
1. Connect GSC and OpenAI.
2. Prioritize posts using GSC data.
3. Analyze articles to surface issues and opportunities.
4. Configure rewrite settings and custom instructions.
5. Generate, review, and approve updated drafts.
6. Track gains and iterate.
Where to get it
– FreshRank is available as a plugin and there are free/light options and an online analysis tool if you want to try without installing anything.
